Visitador Campos accuses Benavides of various scandalous behaviors and has him removed from post of vice-custodio; Benavides appeals this move, goes to comandante general with several complaints about Campos; townspeople of Benavides' Former post complain about new missionary appointed by Campos; other letters of complaint sent regarding Campos, all brought to capital by Benavides as evidence; ultimately recommendation made that both men be retired to avoid further scandal; folios of (D. Summary
Missionary of Villa de Croix excommunicates ministro de justicia, Zamora, for crime against Josepha Maldonado. Josepha, daughter of Jose Maldonado, is victim of beating and injuries. Missionary Arocha is accused of bringing married woman, cadenas, to church one night and her Husband has thus left her. Cadena woman's testimony explains that she went to missionary's house because of injuries received after her fight with Josepha Maldonado; Zamora said Josepha should be punished. Arecho requests account of happenings from missionary and that Zamora be absolved. Gossip from vecinos told to priest against Zamora; questioning as to where Josepha lived, and her forced removal from her Father's house. Both Rios and Zamora absolved. (L. L. Woodward, October 1988)

Summary
Series of documents concerning granting of permit to Larranaga to take care of health problems in Mexico; governor gives notice of epidemic in the capital (name is not identified in documents), when he arrived in Texas (escort also got sick upon arrival); notice is given Lipanez abandoned mission Balero, secularization of the mission is mentioned; index of documents sent to the governor Cierragorda by the viceroy; Fernandez solicits rank of captain, and to organize militia but governor disagrees for fear of creating chaos in San Luis de la Paz; viceroy asks all letter be addressed to him with their corresponding index; Serna complains about minister of Croix and asks for funds to hire a ministro de doctrina for Indians living there; fray Diaz, excommunicated teniente de las casas for misbehaving inside church building, pardon is sought for him but could not attend due to illness and high temperature.
