Includes 6 brief, unrelated expedientes, numeros 7-12. In 7, Lasaga informs virrey that certain residents of San Carlos should be exempt from taxation because they have no permanent home or work, but mine whenever possible, and serve whenever called to arms. In 8, Lasaga says it came to his attention that large group of Indians (unnamed) are held prisoner in Aguayo, but soldiers no longer able to contain escapes; guidance from virrey requested. In 9, Lasso informs of shortage of servants in Veracruz, requests that 6 Mecos return with him to work in that capacity; will educate and care for them. In 10, Indians (unnamed) journey to San Carlos to request financial help; each granted 1 'real' daily. In 11, Lasaga solicits advice from virrey regarding Aracates, previously guilty of murder and theft, but now want to establish peaceful relations. In 12, 2 Pacitas kill Young Boy, wound another; Comecamotes trick soldiers into truce, then kill several, steal cattle, kill pastor with own knife; soldiers' actions found 'imprudente.' (L. Series of autos, testimonies and certifications about the formation of a militia of 50 soldiers in real de Vallecillos. Conflict arose when some Hacendados did not want to contribute and began to have meetings to resist the tax. Document explains in detail the type of situations occurring among Hacendados and government officials (some Hacendados compromised to arm one soldier each and then withdrew the offer. (M. Summary
Fuentes' letter to Palacio includes quote from Palacio with stated goal of fully exploiting mines of San Carlos Tamualipa suspension of Alcavala, Media anata; land made available to miners; extension of cattle grazing; wood, materials and equipment tax free; sale of gun powder at Mexico City price; quicksilver to be sold at San Luis price; as well as other ways of promoting metal production. Palacios to Croix expresses desire of miners for priest sundays and for festival days; tax on silver to construct church; need to develop water system. Discussion of favorable metal production in San Nicolas. List of group of miners some who are witnesses and elected members included with Nava and Fuentes in report promoting mining. Fuentes in letter to Palacios explains that some mines are not being worked due to absence of their discoverers, uneconomical conditions for exploitation, and lack of tools; abundance of veins and continual discovery. Lists made by Fuentes of San veins; quantity per load of ore extracted at each mine. Partial copy of duty charges of Alcabala from may - June 1768, includes who sold what to whom (especially food) (ff 316). Letter from Nava to Palacio discusses state of individual processing abilities; production capacity. Letter also tells duty Charged on silver and gold. (L. L. Woodward, October 1988)

Summary
Concerns secret investigation of Nava and Inchaurregui's abuses of influence with governor. Fuentes who has founded San Carlos Tamaulipa complains that governor Gonzales de Santianes has arrested him on unfounded grounds; pretext was that Fuentes let a soldier out of jail; Nava has influenced governor in arrest. San Nicolas vecinos also issue complaint against Nava and Inchaurregui. Nava's positions include that of Alcavala manager which biases everyone against him. Nava has delayed silver purchasing. Investigation requests information and documents on conduct of Inchaurregui from San Luis Potosi; Inchaurregui exiled from Guadalcazar. Investigation to inquire of conduct of Nava and Inchaurregui to capitans of San Carlos Tamaulipa and San Nicolas. Request that Fuentes have job and honors restored; merits of Fuentes discussed. Inchaurregui given permission to return home though case of replacement corn not concluded. Letter from Galnares in Guadalcazar acknowledges that Inchaurregui left possibly to hide; also expelled from Zelaya. (L. L. Woodward, September 1988)

Summary
Concerns seies of letters of reorganization of troops and providencias declared to the governor. Urrutia is said to be illiterate and too old for his responsibilities so he should be granted cedula of invalid. Letter reporting casualties in war against Indians. Report on military actions against Lipanes. Cueva petitions for rank of lieutenant Colonel. Status of Invalidos given to soldiers. Indians stole gunpowder from Laredo and Galvan is held responsible. He is jailed but released when proven innocent. Muniz gets refund for sale of cattle. Testimony for santo oficio is expected from Alange. Tax exemption to miners who build missions is mentioned. Puga and Mugier are escorted to the capital. Notice of pardon to those guilty of contraband.
