Summary
Concerns inventories of Neve's belongings and carrying out of clauses in Neve's will. Corbalna and Rengel working on gathering wealth and delivering it to Dongo. Rengel working on inventory of belongings at Neve's hacienda del Carmen. Accounting of public auction of Neve's belongings from hacienda del Carmen giving sale price of objects, and accounting of expenses to doctors, funeral costs, masses, etc. Request that Salas be paid for medical services to Neve. Copy of Neve's will including debts owed, inventory of silver belongings, heirs (ff. 71 - 82). Galindo Navarro to Medino concerning carrying out will, auction of belongings, inventory of Neve's papers, and keys to governor's office. Lengthy inventory of Neve's belongings by room prepared by Corbalan and signed by witnesses, provides origin of many of the clothing and food items, and peso value placed on each item, and list of items sold in auction including price and buyer's name (ff 86 - 104). Summary
Concerns inventory of Neve's belongings and papers, and explanation of what to do with belongings according to testament, executor Dongo has found it difficult to sell many of Neve's belongings. List of contents of documents concerning Neve's testament and Dongo's responsibilities towards it. Index of reports and correspondence making up expediente concerning testament of Neve, and reports by Neve's executor Dongo. Testimony that will of Neve is being carried out. Neve's widow to receive third of his wealth, but she is also dead. Inventory made of Neve's belongings; 16000 pesos of Neve's wealth in Plata doble to go to the Cadiz Casa de vienes de difuntos--receipt included from Navio San Felipe at San Juan de Ulua. Copy of Neve's will, written while gravely ill, includes request for masses for his Soul, list of his debts and how they should be paid, list of silver and gold objects, assignment of Dongo and Corbalan in charge of his wealth and salary owed, list of debts owned to him to be collected and given to the poor, instructions about Croix's stored belongings, and other various instructions; Dongo and Escovosa named as his executors and his wife, Sister, and nephew named as heirs, but with provisions for others in case they are dead. Summary
Orders from viceroy to Anza about recruitment of soldiers with families to move to and settle San Francisco California, appointments of lieutenant and Sergeant to be in command of garrison. Also appointment of friars to accompany expedition with cooperation of fray Serra establish two missions in area settled. de Anza travels to Sinaloa and established towns in Sonora recruiting families and purchasing supplies, cattle, horses and mules for March with orders to leave as soon as possible carrying enough supplies to leave with settlers until area is established. Viceroy orders de Anza to turn command of expedition in Monterrey to Moncada who will command presidio in San Francisco, also is ordered to select with Moncada site for presidio and missions to be established and return to Sonora as soon as task accomplished. de Anza informs viceroy of progress made in recruitment impossibility of Alferez Morada to go with expedition as wife has terminal disease, also notifies viceroy of death of sargent Espinosa to unknown epidemic which has affected many families recruited slowing progress many months. de Anza request substitution of sargent from O'Conor military inspector and general commander. List of soldiers with families is sent to viceroy amounting to 191 persons not counting muleskinners, people attached to expedition like merchants, farmers who are not being paid by de Anza who is supplying them with food only, also three families whose husbands are attached to presidio of Monterrey. Anza expedition starts from Tubac on October 20, Ten months after viceroy issued orders which Anza argues is best time due to rains which will provide water and better pasture for animals. Attached are letters from fray Garces who is reluctant to go with expedition wanting instead to establish missions in upper Colorado and Gila rivers, viceroy issues him orders to join expedition under de Anza which he agrees with reluctance requesting his own special assistants and his own transportation. Letter from fray Mezquia to viceroy referring attacks suffered by Apaches to their train of food supplies and costs of such goods carried by them when Apaches steal all their goods and animals carrying such supplies, fray Mezquia requests some kind of payment to missions to recover what is lost and request four soldiers for each mission separated from command of presidios to guard such missions. Francisco and six families of Seris returned to Pitic on August 30, looking very hungry. Speaks of rations of grain, meat. Mentions agreement made when Seris first conceded peace in 1784. Tiburones, Tepocas embracing christianity, should be used as examples for Seris. Discussion of process for religious education for Young, older Indians. Lists Seris in reduccion, amount of grain each receives weekly Chepillo declared guilty (charge unclear) by entire Seri nation, is to be deported. Speaks of purchase of livestock for Seris. (A.
