Documents include signed testimonios from hacienda owners and administrators in Nuevo Leon promising to 'pasar el Correo' from hacienda to hacienda between Saltillo and San Luis Potosi, since pueblos so far apart, explanation by governor of how this would be accomplished; letters from governor informing virrey of provincial affairs, requesting assistance on certain matters, including civil military affairs, Indian relations, disappearance of squadron commander, problems created, regarding possible British invasion, collection of a new tax, that departure for 'Corte' and to visit various 'companias' delayed due to tertian fever and several relapses; copy of virrey's statement granting establishment of monthly 'correo' between Saltillo and San Luis Potosi. Letters concerning: brief reports of significant monthly military occurrences, mining discoveries; organization of presidios to counter Indian attacks, punish offenders; 'librettas' of officials, 'revista de inspeccion' for 1769, 1770; 'renuncia' of alferez, suffering from poor health; discussion of use of word 'previniendole' with 'subditos,' assault case in which soldier held 'bajo' word, governor explains rationale for action to virrey, begs indulgence for applying word in this manner; subsequent letter that further action delayed because squadron called upon to suppress Indian attacks; transportation of individuals via 'pobladores mercenados'; new mines and veins discovered at Vallecillo, abundance of metals still in old mines.
