Summary
1375 inhabitants divided among Onavas, Tonichi. Onavas situated hill above Rio Yaqui. Inhabitants Nebomes Altas, considered finest Piman group. Well-dressed, religious, living in towns flat-roofed houses arranged along streets. Many speak Mexican language (nahuatl?). Beautiful church of 3 naves, musicians. Inhabitants Tonichi speak hegue, otherwise customs similar to Onavas. Also have streets. Notes presence gentile Pimas on frontier. States only one came to be baptized last year. (T. Sheridan) (1976)
