Since Rengel found it impossible for Indians to be forced to live in pueblos, it was agreed they be permitted to establish rancherias in Sierras near presidios. In order to maintain control, Indians who had made peace would be issued licenses, and those caught without one could be captured or killed. (D. Marksz, June 1987)

Autos, petitions from Ayagues and Carizos to fiscal de naturales requesting transfer and ownership of land, appointment of Jose Cayetano Salinas as their protector. Travel and incarceration of six Ayagues in Mexico City. Petition granted but not acted upon, Ayagues travel second time to Mexico City to repetition. Petition granted again but blocked by governor who claims that land belongs to Milicianos and that Salinas is an undesirable and criminal who is put in jail. Salinas released under oath not to help Ayagues again. (A. Dell'acqua, April 1987)

Summary
A condensed account of a letter and other correspondence where governor of Nuevo Santander at presidio of Laredo states that a fahuacan captain and 17 Indians showed up requesting that a settlement be established near their territory on banks of Colorado River. Indians request permission to travel to Mexico to present their petitions to viceroy. A negotiator is nominated but Fahuacanes refuse to deal with him (Joachin Mosquera). Document ends abruptly. (T. Summary
Three Sisimbres Indians and 2 of their wives escape in 1748 from the Pueblo of Conchos. Captain Berroteran of the Conchos presidio, fearing they will stir up trouble among the unreduced Indians, runs them down and apprehends them at a Rancheria between Conchos and Coahuila. The rebels then ordered taken to Durango and Gabriel escapes, Matheo Dies in the attempt and Aguilar is finally taken to justice in Durango. (T. Naylor) (1977)
