The letters warn them not to permit the French to smuggle any kind of goods. Concerns de la Bodega y Quadra's trip to Lima in order to bring Azoque (mercury) to San Blas. de la Bodega y Quadra's proposes that if he is unable to get mercury that he pay for the trip by bringing back weapons, fruits, and other goods from Lima and Panama.
