Inventory of the estate of capitan Juan de Alvarado, Miner and rancher. Contains 4 slaves- Cayetana, Negra, age 26, 300 pesos; Serapiona, Negra, age 3, 160 pesos; Sepherina, Negra, age 2, 120 pesos; Sabina, Mulata, age 20, 50 pesos. Lucas Salcido complains that his neighbors-Xavier Mendez, etc.- are letting their stock graze on his land and that this stock is ruining his sembradas and Ojo de Agua. The neighbors maintain that the land is not used, never was used, and should be common property anyway. Lucas Salcido and Thomas Ruiz de Avendano do not agree. The neighbors are accordingly fined 10 pesos and sentenced to eight days in jail, and told to get their stock out immediately. (P. Hayes) (1977)
