Travel notes pages 263-274. Continues with his travels in Du Toit's Pan mine, and how they cultivate and harrow the diamond fields. He also collects herbarium specimens in Alexandersfontein, a few miles from Kimberly, and describes soil conditions. He also documents the diamond digging along the Vaal River. He also collects and documents samples from Longlands.
