Several letters from Garcia Alexo for virrey informing him of the need to decrease the size of military and avoid the excessive payments. Relacion of several Indians who want amnesty to live in pueblo mesquital. Relacion contains names and how many are with their families. Letter from the governor of Sonora to the virrey informing him of the happiness of the americans when they heard the king's declaration. Garcia Alexo reports that the rebels who caused the disturbance in Bavispe have been identified and suggests virrey recognize the patriotic behavior of Evangelista Barrios, chief of the Opatas. Letter from the directors of tabaco y polvora to the virrey informing him of the quantities of tobacco sent to those provincias. (D. Bautista, July 1990)

Summary
Arredondo informs virrey about a fight between the Lipanes and the company from Bavia and the results of the battle. In ff. 163, another battle is referred to but now in the Paraje of the Tortuga. Lopez fought Indian, killing him with his hands; ears of Indian cut and presented to the comandante; official letter determines that all adventurers aprehended with arms in hands, or those giving them help, will be punished with pena capital, and the confiscation of all properties. An annual contribution of 4 pesos by each indian family; that indians form their own parishes and pay indian and Spanish religious personnel, lists suggested salaries for various personnel; that they pay 30 Spanish residents (who must be married and will populate area) to serve as defense militia; that a system of community livestock be developed (provides prices of various species); that each indian own land and pay a percentage to the church; and that funds be set aside for the king, for hospitals, and to support livestock raising. Nunez writes of Galvez' merits. Description with map of rio Mayo area, including description of clothing worn by indians, and agricultural activities. Estimates a population of 2,000 indian families living in the rio Mayo area (maybe 6,000 souls). (L. L. Woodward, August 1989)

Summary
Letters to Corbalan regarding Neve's papers and receipt of goods received and price paid, and attempts to distinguish Neve's belongings from those of Cavallero de Croix. Medina to Galindo Navarro regarding receipt of copy of Neve's will and plans for making inventories and auction. Corbalan to Galindo Navarro Corbalan's being chosen as executor of Neve's will and duties transactions; commissions. Dongo to Galindo Navarro regarding selection of Neve's executors and news of Neve's death. Autos concerning choice of executors and plans for auction, Corbalan is organizing auction in Arispe; 7 receipts for purchases by Neve presented by Fernandes, and paid by executors as stipulated in will, including payment for mules stolen by Apaches, and payment to doctor. Account of auction of Neve's belonging (household goods, clothing, weapons, livestock), with buyer and purchase price provided for each item conducted by Fernandes; autos attest that auction was carried out by Fernandes according to request in will. Price of gold Chapa evaluated by silversmith. Rengel to Sal regarding Neve's papers. Ugarte y Loyola to Galvez regarding autos of inventories of Neve's belongings. Accounts of funds spent according to requests in Neve's will for bills (copies of bills and receipts included) including funeral expenses, doctors, medicine, services, masses, household goods, transportation of goods and funds, servants' salaries, legal fees and appraisers' fees. Neve's belongings (including description and value) sent to Dongo in Mexico by Fernandez; acknowledgement of receipt of objects. Documents concerning final accounts of the auction, deductions from Neve's wealth, and that executors carried out functions satisfactorily, including final remittances of funds and uniforms to heirs and to Caxa de Bienes de difuntos de Cadiz. Summary
General account of Neve's wealth compiled by Corbalan including liquid assets, salaries, and account of Neve's expenses owned to various individuals; salary of Neve with deductions for Monte Pio, Invalidos, Media anata, and conduccion a Espana. Account of transport costs for goods bought from Neve's estate (receipt of muleteer). Account of Neve's expenses, costs of food items and household goods bought and services provided (carpentry, transportation, laundry); Series of receipts of money paid out by Neve's executors and funds deposited in Rosario treasury. Neve's widow prohibited from receiving the sum of inheritance Neve indicated in his will. List of gun powder and household goods for sale left at Neve's hacienda by Croix. Dongo and Corbalan correspond regarding freeing Neve's funds to pay Neve's debts, including debt to late doctor sales. Medina's letter introduces inventories and auction sales of Neve's belongings. Autos by Galindo Navarro regarding Neve's executors and funds they administered. Corbalan relates to virrey that he has paid the heirs of Neve's doctor and describes transactions of Neve's wealth liquidated through auction; virrey(?) Acknowledges receipt of letter. Galindo Navarro in auto describes death of Neve and his duties to make an inventory of Neve's belongings, put his papers in order, identify corpse, and gather keys. Copy of Neve's will (ff. 145-159). Summary
Concerns inventories of Neve's belongings and carrying out of clauses in Neve's will. Corbalna and Rengel working on gathering wealth and delivering it to Dongo. Rengel working on inventory of belongings at Neve's hacienda del Carmen. Accounting of public auction of Neve's belongings from hacienda del Carmen giving sale price of objects, and accounting of expenses to doctors, funeral costs, masses, etc. Request that Salas be paid for medical services to Neve. Copy of Neve's will including debts owed, inventory of silver belongings, heirs (ff. 71 - 82). Galindo Navarro to Medino concerning carrying out will, auction of belongings, inventory of Neve's papers, and keys to governor's office. Lengthy inventory of Neve's belongings by room prepared by Corbalan and signed by witnesses, provides origin of many of the clothing and food items, and peso value placed on each item, and list of items sold in auction including price and buyer's name (ff 86 - 104). Summary
Concerns inventory of Neve's belongings and papers, and explanation of what to do with belongings according to testament, executor Dongo has found it difficult to sell many of Neve's belongings. List of contents of documents concerning Neve's testament and Dongo's responsibilities towards it. Index of reports and correspondence making up expediente concerning testament of Neve, and reports by Neve's executor Dongo. Testimony that will of Neve is being carried out. Neve's widow to receive third of his wealth, but she is also dead. Inventory made of Neve's belongings; 16000 pesos of Neve's wealth in Plata doble to go to the Cadiz Casa de vienes de difuntos--receipt included from Navio San Felipe at San Juan de Ulua. Copy of Neve's will, written while gravely ill, includes request for masses for his Soul, list of his debts and how they should be paid, list of silver and gold objects, assignment of Dongo and Corbalan in charge of his wealth and salary owed, list of debts owned to him to be collected and given to the poor, instructions about Croix's stored belongings, and other various instructions; Dongo and Escovosa named as his executors and his wife, Sister, and nephew named as heirs, but with provisions for others in case they are dead. Summary
Autos formed against Basques accused of theft of cattle from Sanchez. While Palacio is in charge of the new colony as gobernador Sanchez accused Basquez. Martinez is commissioned to make an investigation and to send the conclusions to Palacios. Basquez complains about the procedures because the judge is not questioning Sanchez about his gambling activities. When Sanchez and his sons lost in the game they drive out Basquez without the cattle he won in the game from Sanchez. Gobernador Palacio orders an appraisal of the cattle's value to be paid by Basques. Sanchez and Basques do not agree on the estimates and a third party has to mediate. Palacio states that if Basques refuses to pay he will be embargado. Basques complains to the virrey. (D. Bautista, June 1990)
