The tribes of tacahuan and comanches appeared in plaza to fight Apaches, lipanes arrive at missions of san Jose and Espadas; lipanes from the north arrive at presidio de San Juan Baptista del rio Grande, munoz sends them back and sends two spies to make sure; lombrana and others arrive to speak of peace but commandante general not trusting them takes lombrana and others prisoner until emisaries come back with other people from this indian nation. They later escaped, while escaping a gandul stabbed commandante general who then shot him dead; in response to the belligerency of the lipanes munoz has ordered an increase of number of comanches and other indians from the north to counteract the lipanes. Includes 4 expedientes, 15-18; 17 and 18 related. Numero 15 concerns battle between Piquete of soldiers and Camotero Indians; soldiers attempt to capture Camoteros, who resist with bow and arrow, killing 2 horses and a soldier; soldiers kill 2 Indians; find 2 Canoas, which governor decides they should keep, as soldiers need to cross River often; fiscal reminds governor that one-quarter of value of confiscated goods owed; governor responds saying Canoas do not appear Indian-made, besides are not serviceable, believes they are from shipwrecked 'san Judas Fadeo', wine and aguardiente also found, but governor argues it is weak and of little value. In 16, Bocio, widow of late governor, requests monthly pension of 20 reales; matter discussed among fiscales, approved. Numero 17 includes accounts of expenditures incurred while transporting Collera of Meco Indians to Mexico City; money from various sources; terms of some money lent discussed among fiscales. In 18, Lasaga notes that expenditures approved originally by predecessor, but that he too will approve them. (L. Kerr, June 1989)

Summary
Concerns publication (book ?), of administrative proceedures sent from conde de Galvez to Ugarte y Loyola regarding the governing of Provincias Internas del oriente and Occidente. Specificies the kind of events the commanders of each province muist report back. Document comprises gives a break down of the many characteristics that Spanish colonization implemented in the conquest of Indian territories. Strategies of the conquest are explained in this document, such as use of Indian controversies to facilitate their reduction. History of how the conquest began is given. Document explains trade Spaniards had with some Indian nations in order to subjugate them. Specific indications of what type of activities were allowed for Indians under Spaniard's domination is given. Characteristics of several Indian nations are provided, such as which one was friendly and/or hostile. (this document is a very important summary of almost all kind of activities the Spanish conqueror had to implement in their fight against tricks used, legislation among provinces, judicial organization, religious strategies etc. Etc.). Rich details of history and settlement of missions and presidios near San Fernando. Founding and abandonment of presidio of Texas. Details of Indian invasion of mission of los Adaes, French and Indian fighting against Spanish. Gives geographical limits of province of Texas, describes fruits cultivated, resources for pasturing, construction, water, wildlife, animals, commerce, mining. Discusses war with Apaches and inability to reduce them. Establishment of San Fernando and population figures. Request for troops in San Sabas; cattle, horses, provisions in Adaes due to Indians leaving missions, ranches needing to be reestablished, Indian war hindering exploitation of land, risk of families leaving. Soto Bermudez is arrested, details for escort to royal jail. Indians take herd of oxen from Espiritu Santo mission; all but 2 oxen recovered. Detailed report of skirmish with Comanches; Comanche women fighting. Ripperda asks Martinez Pacheco for reinforcements. Valverde destroys document concerning building of 4 missions. Theft of Thobar's oxen and horse near Bexar. War with Taguayas; prisoners held, request taguaya captain to take back women and message that their warring means punishment.
