Correspondence to viceroy concerning problems of bridges and acequias, drainage of public works projects. Folios 243, 249, 257 written by nuns (abadesas) recounting rise of water level, smell and possible disease to convent. Also, inability to pay contribution due to lack of income by convent. Other documents discuss financial matters of payments by finqueros, and specify areas and houses responsible to contribute. Remedies listed to resolve drainage problems to neighborhood, but also benefits to be gained by project and street paving. (J. M. Johnson, January 1989)

Details and budgets of repairs on real carcel de Corte of real Sala del Crimen in Mexico by ingeniero Mascaro. Urgent repairs needed on dungeon and repair and enlargement of men's and women's prisons to avoid misconduct among inmates. Budget for dungeon prepared by Castera and funds approved by real hacienda. Ff. 25-27 good description of physical layout of surrounding area of carcel de Corte and types of people using the Callejon leading to entrance. Proximity to Alcalde's residence danger to official's families by criminals. Need for better security and cleanliness to instill good behavior in prisoners. Mascaro forcefully defends need for better social conditions for prisoners as well as welfare of officials. Ff. 29-31 budget of Mascaro for work on Alcalde's Palace, and prisions. Recommendations for solutions to problems, such as building new entrance to prisons. Series of documents on fiscal matters and royal ordances. Work began February 24 and concluded April 16, 1791. Series of gubernatorial documents primarily consisting of notifications of receipt of various vandos, letters, Ordenes, copies of documents, etc., not all of which have corresponding documents present, and indexes of correspondence for 1777; some letters include request for more arms to fight Indians and protect vecinos, and list weapons desired; one letter regards Indians killing son and grandson of justicia de la Villa de Laredo who had killed an Indian before; two vandos (not present) acknowledged as received on prohibition of sowing, 3% al tiempo de quintarse; one letter notifies virrey that Echeagaray is setting out to visit populations of Sierra Madre and reconocer los Terrenos senalados para pueblos de indios en su cordillera. Letters from Lorca y Villera, 1774, Nuevo Reino de Leon. Postal service in Nuevo Leon, death of Indian prisoners, death of Indians on hacienda (de Patos y Villa de Parras), need for military equipment (rifles, gunpowder) for defense of province. Letters discuss attack by Indians on July 25, 1773 and attack on Indians by Spaniards in Valle de Pesqueria Grande, of August 16, 1774. Informe from conde de Sierra Gorda concerning new mission in Valle Viejo. Letter giving permission for marriage of Soldados Voluntarios to christianized Indian women. Documents relating to edicts issued in previous administrations for which Loyola sends copies to viceroy mostly regarding licenses and marital relations of military officers also, court Martial of lieutenant Villalobos regarding fraud to crown for stealing horses in concordance with two other soldiers who were sentenced to hard labor, Villalobos was fired from his job as punishment.
