Summary
Nava notifies to governors and intendentes about all hostilities in Provincias Internas del Poniente must ask the guests for personal information (name, age, job, business); and about a new college in Granada city devoted to the teaching of nobles americanos. Gonzalez is designated captain in presidio de Monterrey; Ortega, for captain to presidio de Loreto; Bargas, for lieutenant to compania presidial de Buenaventura. Notification of get away of Indian known as capitan Chiquito from presidio de Arizpe. Nava notifies about the low possibility that the Indian nicknamed capitancillo Llanero, el calvo may become Allied to Apaches and nacion iuta in order to attack the Comanches; Cabrera states that iutas do not represent danger due that they are under control. Cabrera asks advice regarding whether or not he should discharge el calvo, or attack him if the Indian proposes a peace agreement. Summary
Lengthy document about removal of Ugalde from governorship of Coaguila by Caballero de Croix. Ugalde complains that without being notified of reasons for his removal he was sent to Mexico to wait decision of king; his salary was cancelled as well. He states needing money and having to sell his jewels to support himself. He requests title of brigadier and another position in New Spain or in Peru. He includes a relacion of his military background. Description of military career of his paternal and maternal relatives. Description of his military career in Europe, Africa, and America. He gives a detailed account of his military campaigns against the Apaches. Description of battles, number of soldiers involved, number of Indians killed, captured, and horses, cattle and weapons recovered from the Indians. Ugalde also includes many letters sent to him by various people congratulating him for pacifying the area. Other letters deal with king's decision to appoint Ugalde as comandante de Armas, and to pay back his salary. (J. Tapia, March, 1988)

Lengthy expediente with copies of many letters dealing with transfer of military troop. Lipanes have been raiding in Coaguila and Nuevo Leon. Mentions that military troop in Quatrocienegas would be positive, as that is area in which Lipanes travel back and forth in their raids. Some people complain that if troop is removed from Alamo, Indians would attack this region, and area may be depopulated. Statements that if Parras and Alamo fall, Indians may go as far as Zacatecas. Other letters state lack of grass, water, and firewood for proper maintenance of troop in Alamo. Mention of abundant grass and water for horses and cattle in Quatrocienegas. People in nearby haciendas may be resettled in Quatrocienegas. Discussion of animosity between Comanches and Lipanes; plans that Former may be used in battle against Lipanes. Summary
Concerns activities of segunda compania. Describes campaigns in area and number of men and horses sent. Letters acknowledge receipt and completion of orders sent. Bustamente tells of recent Indian vs. Indian wars. Requests orders for behavior assuming loyal frienship with Spanish. Concerns company of uniforms, armament, and tack distributed to soldier describes arrival of one desertor with two horses from primera compania. With Castros permission, Bustamente sent detachment to Rio Grande to verify conditions and assist if necessary. Due to stampede, 300 horses lost. Describes purchases made at Saltillo's annual fair for troops and families. says funds insufficient. Desperately need salaries of officials and sargeants. Sends party to search for desertor and lost horses. Includes list of horses and mules seized from Indians. Tired troops request help from primera compania to continue battle in San Sabbas. Assisted company in Revilla to track Apaches after raid and kidnapping at Lopez' ranch. Relates theft and murder by Indians. Concerns letter from Galvez regarding three soldiers needing to See surgeon in Monclova. Order to have 60 men equipped for campaign. Wants to have meat available for trip but will have Pinole and Vizcocho. Advises all ranches between Arroyo Blance and Yglesias to beware of possible Indian raids. Concerns improper conduct of desertor and his debt to company. Related incident in which one soldier, cleaning his gun, accidentally shoots himself and another soldier and later is imprisoned for it. Requests permission for troops to travel to Mexico and Querataro to purchase supplies. Acknowledges instructions to treat Lipanes kindly in case of rival attack.
